h2. Multimedia Capture and Support

Several rooms in the Siebel Center and DCL are equipped for video capture as part of the I2CS program. This equipment can also be used to record other Computer Science classes and events.

The rooms below are equipped with a camera, microphone, and a VGA signal that we can capture. In each of the rooms we can capture the camera content next to the VGA feed of the slides using Windows Media. [An example of this is found in this Windows Media file|http://media.cs.uiuc.edu/DCS/demos/2006-03-06-Hall-DLSdemo.asx].

Some rooms are equipped with a more advanced capture system called Echo360. Using Echo360 we stream the camera and VGA signal as Flash files. By using Flash, we are able to deliver the same content to viewers on Windows, Mac, and Linux. Echo360 also allows for the capture of content without the camera feed, an audio only MP3 file. Echo360 content is on-demand only. Priority in recording content is given to I2CS classes and events scheduled in advance. Because some rooms (the large lecture halls and 2405 SC) have a more advanced camera system, an operator may be required. Because of other commitments (meetings, recordings in other areas), we cannot record every event that is requested, but we will make every effort to do so. Events during business hours will be easier for us to record that evening and weekend events. Please contact us at [mailto:userhelp@cs.uiuc.edu] if you have questions.

Note that if you wish to have a guest speaker recorded, you must inform them they are being recorded and [obtain a release form with their signature|Educational and Multimedia Services^CS recording release form SiebelCenter.doc].

*Please contact TSG about recording requests as far in advance as possible.*
