Dave Mussulman
TSG Research Programmer

2330 Siebel Center

My TSG primary responsibilities are overseeing the departmental network (wired and wireless,) and our departmental data protection/backups services. I stand in as a secondary unix admin, security admin, web developer, and other random duties. Such is the life of a holistic IT worker at large.

I'm also a graduate student in the Grad School of Library and Information Science (GSLIS) at UIUC. I plan on graduating around 2008 with an MS in LIS. I don't know where I'll go from there.

GSLIS has a section for bios on their intranet, and I've copied my entry here.

I'm hailing from the engineering side of campus, trying to figure out where library science starts and computer science stops. I've been with TSG as an undergrad since summer 1999, and I start my 6th year of FT as a TSG sysadmin in September 2006.

I'm originally from the St. Louis area (Collinsville, IL) but I've been living in Champaign long enough to probably start calling it home.

A thought: The Master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he is always doing both.

I'm a big fan of TiVo, Netflix, the St. Louis Cardinals, Illini sport, gambling, drinking and other forms of debauchery.

At some point I'd like to start/join a campus TabletPC/PDA/Smartphone Users Group (TPCPDASUG?). The CITES Wiki PDA space might be a good starting point.
