Introduction

The Undergraduate Research Lab (URL) was founded by Dr. Lawrence Angrave in March 2008 and comprises an ongoing set of activities and opportunities to foster students research potential in Computer Science and a semester-long 'Research Experience' course. More information about the 3 credit course is here.

Activities

> Provide a Research Experience course.

> Provide an inventory of novel and state-of-the-art resources for research purposes.

> Summarize and promote contemporary research to undergraduates.

> Facilitate writing and identifying students for NSF REU grants.

Objectives

> Provide A 'Research Experience' course to juniors/seniors that are completing the CS pre-requisite track cs498la.

> Provide undergraduate students access to research opportunities and novel technology.

> Help our top students be more competitive in their future academic and commercial careers.
Students can engage in research activities before their senior thesis project.

> Engage students with a broad set of activities associated with research.

> Provide opportunities for students to work with faculty and existing research projects before their final year.

> Raise awareness among the undergraduate population of the current faculty research

Desired Outcomes

Increased undergraduate retention.
Increased student satisfaction.
Increased high-level interaction between students and faculty.
Greater use of NSF REU grants.
Increased number of students working with faculty.
More students placed into graduate programs in top-tier research institutions.
