The Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) aims to advance the application of mathematics and computational science to engineering, industry, science, and society.

About the Chapter
The SIAM student chapter at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign was created in the fall of 2006, is supported by the SIAM parent organization, and is a registered student organization at UIUC.

Prof. Klaus Schulten – "Advanced computing in biology and bioengineering"

Professor Schulten's research group has been using parallel computing and advanced graphics for
research in biology and biotechnology for over two decades. In
collaboration with faculty in CS and CSE, they develop the needed research
tools that they share with over a hundred thousand users. He will describe what
they have achieved and where they are heading.
